Astrea Farinhas e Oleos S.A. is a service renderer transforming animal by-products into high value protein meals and fats for the animal feed and pet food industries in Brazil.  
The Astrea plant is located on the site of Lar’s poultry processing facility in Marechal Candido Rondon in the state of Paraná. 
A pioneer of low temperature and low energy rendering in Brazil, Astrea is proud to do more with less, producing high quality products efficiently and with minimal environmental impact.  

INTEGRATION WITH THE MEAT COMPANY

Astrea is an independent renderer located on the site of Lar’s poultry processing plant in Marechal Candido Rondon, Paraná.  
There are considerable benefits by locating the rendering plant on site. Material is processed quickly and efficiently, improving product quality and guaranteeing full traceability through the process. This is important for the poultry company which uses the end products in its own business.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

LOW TEMPERATURE RENDERING 
Astrea was a pioneer in Brazil with the first low temperature rendering plant commissioned in the country, utilising an innovative PDS or press dewatering system. The process substitutes thermal for mechanical energy, dramatically reducing the consumption of energy necessary for production of poultry meal and poultry oil.  
Product drying happens without the presence of fat and therefore at a lower temperature, ensuring less proteins are denatured and thereby producing a poultry meal with higher nutritive value. Both brut protein levels and protein digestibility are increased.  
TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT 
Astrea has pioneered the development of its own system of data capture and real time analysis to ensure product quality is more easily achieved.
